BUILDING USED AS A CINEMA:
At the same time, it served as a venue for public events of all kinds, hosting the traditional galas for the local festivities, plays, concerts and so on.
It was subsequently leased to Granadilla de Abona Town Council, which used it for
cultural activities.
The flats on the upper floor of the building were completely refurbished in 1980, at which time the current separate staircase leading from the street was installed.
DESCRIPTION OF THE BUILDING:

The building was constructed with a reinforced concrete structure, with the exception of the roof, which is made of a metal truss system with a gable roof, and which in turn supports the suspended ceiling of the screening room. The stage is configured as a separate module within the main hall, with a ceiling
consisting of a concrete slab.
Taking advantage of the slope of the street along the building’s façade, a storage room was built in the semi-basement, which has also been used as a bar.
From the street, a flight of steps leads to the ground-floor lobby, which houses a canteen and toilets for men and women. To one side is the ticket office, where the main electrical distribution board is located.
From the foyer, two wide doors lead into the auditorium, which is divided by two longitudinal aisles and one transverse aisle. The latter leads to an emergency corridor that opens directly onto the street and also connects to the cinema’s rear grounds. At the back of the auditorium is the stage, with a folding projection screen and curtains fitted with electric mechanisms. The stage floor is a wooden platform; beneath it, and covering its entire surface, are dressing rooms and toilets, with access from the auditorium and direct access to the stage as well.
From the main foyer, two side staircases lead to the amphitheatre foyer, which is arranged as a gallery above the stalls. The upper foyer also has its own canteen and separate toilets for ladies and gentlemen, as well as a spacious outdoor terrace. A side door leads to the service staircase leading up to the projection booth.
Adjacent to the projection booth is a toilet and a room used for rewinding films. The projection booth is equipped with two 35 mm film projectors. One of them dates from the time the building was constructed, whilst the other is quite modern, having been installed around 1980; it is capable of handling 80-minute reels and features a xenon lamp, and is in good condition and fully operational.
Above the cabin is an accessible roof, shared by the dwellings, from which there is an access door to the plenum space between the false ceiling and the pitched roof; this door can be opened for maintenance work on the lighting and sound systems.

HOUSING
On the upper floor, above the lobby and mezzanine terrace, there are two recently built, fully furnished flats in excellent condition. Access is via a separate entrance and staircase from the street, independent of the cinema. The water and electricity supplies are also separate, and there is an intercom system.
The two flats, together with the entrance hall, cover a total area of 140 m². Both have two bedrooms, a living-dining room, a kitchen and a bathroom, as well as an internal courtyard for sunbathing and access to the roof for residents’ use and enjoyment.
The finishes are of a high standard, with artificial granite flooring, plastered walls and tiled walls in the kitchen and bathroom. The interior joinery is made of wood and the exterior cladding is aluminium.
